In response to the Covid-19 outbreak we have taken a range of measures to protect our customers, colleagues and the wider community. These steps reflect the guidance from UK government and public health bodies. We continue to proactively assess advice and potential controls to ensure our locations and delivery of services are as safe as possible.
We believe our customers will appreciate the steps we have taken. Although we have made every effort to ensure our usual high standards of service are met in every case, we hope customers will understand there may be situations where the current circumstances impact our service.
In conjunction with our Advanced Safety Assurance we are carrying out a 25 point vehicle hygiene check. This includes the following surfaces and frequently touched areas:
Important new cleaning measures are in place to minimise the risk to you and our colleagues of Covid-19 infection:
Vehicle Cleaning: Your hire vehicle whas been cleaned thoroughly internally with alcohol based (or comparable) cleaning fluid before delivery.
Attention is given to cleaning areas of high usage eg - steering wheel, handles and switches.
Vehicle keys: All keys are thoroughly cleaned with alcohol based (or comparable) cleaning fluid before being given to customers.
PPE: Our valeting and cleaning teams always use appropriate PPE.
Our COVID-Secure policy and controls have been communicated to all employees and its content has been clarified at team meetings, providing the opportunity to feed back on controls in place.
All managers have been briefed on required controls and the Risk Assessment process before completing Risk Assessments at locations as necessary.
In response to the public health emergency we have quickly moved support functions and contact centre teams to home working where this has been possible.
Some of our colleagues have continued to operate from our sites, and where this has been necessary the layout and use of our offices and branches have been altered to accommodate social distancing alongside new operating procedures. The new operating guidelines are explained to all colleagues before they return their work environment.
We have introduced new ‘hands off’ delivery and collection procedures to ensure the safety of customers and colleagues:

Our vehicle return processes are now ‘hands off’ to minimise risk to your health and our driver:
Every repairer on our bodyshop network is committed to working safely in these difficult circumstances.
Each has taken steps, including risk assessments, making provision for social distancing to be observed as well as providing and using appropriate PPE – with the objective of ensuring their workforce, customers and wider community remain safe. Our bodyshop network are ensuring that all customer’s vehicles are thoroughly cleaned before being returned. Vehicles will be cleaned meeting the 25 Point Vehicle Hygiene standard. Some bodyshops are also using specialist vehicle sanitising machines.
From Friday 24th July in England it became a requirement to wear a facemask or face covering in a number of premises, including bodyshops and repairers. This follows the Scottish devolved administration adopting a similar requirement for the wearing of a facemask or face covering on 10th July.
We would therefore like to advise all customers when collecting their repaired vehicle to take a facemask or face covering as you may be required to wear these when inside the premises.
The wearing of face masks or face coverings is not yet required in Wales and Northern Ireland bodyshops and repairers. We will however continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates on this matter where appropriate.
